Timeline
When is the deadline for application?
All applications must be received by March 28, 2012.
For those applying for NYU’s own scholarship the first deadline for application is January 4. Applications filed through May 1 will be considered on a space-available basis. Please contact business.journalism@nyu.edu if you are considering filing your application after January 4.
When will finalists be selected?
Finalists will be selected by April 2012.
When will I have to apply to NYU?
Finalists for the fellowship will be required to apply for admission to NYU’s program in Business and Economic Reporting. Your application must be completed within five days of notification. The GRE and TOEFL are required tests for admission to NYU. If you haven’t already taken the GRE and TOEFL, find out when those tests are offered in your country.
Can I apply directly to NYU outside of the fellowship? What are the deadlines?
We encourage you to apply directly to the Business and Economic Reporting program. BER offers partial scholarships to a select number of incoming students. Although these scholarships are not as generous as the WSJ Fellowship, many students find that it enables them to study at NYU. BER is now considering regular applications on a rolling basis until May 1. The online application is available here.
When will the winners be announced?
Winners will be announced by summer 2012.
How will I know I’ve won?
You will be contacted by Dow Jones.
If the selected Fellow declines the fellowship or fails to accept it within five days of first attempted notification, whether notification is by e-mail, regular mail or telephone, or, if after reasonable attempts are made, notification is unsuccessful, the fellowship will be awarded to another finalist.
