Why the NYU Business and Economic Reporting Program?

The BER program is a rigorous, sixteen-month, three-semester program that combines both hands-on training in business reporting with MBA-level classes at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business.  Students don’t just learn how to cover business; they’re expected to match up with full-time MBA students in the business school classes as well, ensuring they develop a deep understanding of the core issues they’ll be covering in the future.

The small size of the enrollment – just 15 students are selected each year – means that everyone gets close attention from the two full-time professors and an internship director/career counselor.  And the required full-time internship over the summer provides students with invaluable real-world experience at financial- and business-news organizations in New York.

Few other business-journalism programs are as intensive, or prepare students better, for a successful career as a business journalist.

How long does the course last?

The course lasts for sixteen months, from September 2011 to end of 2012.
